The month of Vesak was celebrated adjacent to the Mahamudra Hermitage land. Irene Seeland, a next door neighbor to the land, once again opened her house to the Cragsmoor community for a teaching and guided meditation by Rinpoche. 25 or more people gathered ?some immediate neighbors, some from the extended Cragsmoor community, and some who had traveled from a distance to be with each other and Rinpoche to celebrate the traditional month of Buddha's birth, enlightenment and passing. Irene has a beautiful circular meditation room in her basement which was the site of the teaching and meditation, followed by refreshments in her living room which has an extended view overlooking the Hermitage land. We thank Irene for her kind welcome, participation and hospitality.

On May 22, 2005, Rinpoche gave his first teaching in Cragsmoor, NY. In a neighbor's home next to the Hermitage site, Rinpoche led a teaching and meditation session in honor of Vesak, the traditional celebration of Buddha's birthday. The teaching was attended by over 25 local residents, many of whom were meeting Rinpoche for the first time. This gathering was warmly received by all, and ended with the appearance of a beautiful rainbow spread across the southern valley as a spring rain slowly lifted.
